Some Kind Words From Our ClientsWe hope the following case studies we have highlighted help you to understand some of the benefits of deploying TAP Resources on your projects: Event ManagementThe Third ManOMin Watershed Conference, Nov. 20-22, 2003 in International Falls, MinnesotaRainy River Basin: Our Home, Our Future brought together scientists, resource managers, and members of the general public with an interest in protecting and enhancing the environmental health of the ManOMin Basin, in particular that of the Rainy River Basin. The conference is a networking hub, continuing the process of establishing a foundation of cooperation between Aboriginal/Tribal entities of Ontario and Minnesota, the scientific community, NGO's, business, and all levels of governments on both sides of the border. Tap Resources provided full event planning, coordination and management services, including logistics, theming, design, eb site development, online registration, speaker support and onsite coordination of the event. The World 2003 Aboriginal Festival at the World Cycling Championship in Hamilton, OntarioTAP was asked to develop in partnership with The World Cycling Championships in Hamilton a First Nations event that would be a celebration of indigenous people. The festival was a component of educating and promoting Aboriginal culture and heritage at the World Cycling Event and showcased Six Nation's. Six Nations is one of the largest and most progressive reserve communities in Canada with a membership base of over 20,000 people representing the Mohawk, Onondaga, Cayuga, Oneida, Tuscarora and Seneca Nations. The event included Aboriginal Artisans and Craftors, Dancing, Storytelling, Aboriginal Cuisine, Music, Theatre and many other Aboriginal customs and traditions. TAP Resources was the primary interface and organizer of the event working with an Event Committee aat Six Nations and the organizing committee of the World Cycling Championships. For more information go here. Program Evaluation:Curve Lake Case Management Training
Curve Lake First Nation contracted TAP Resources to design and deliver an accredited ‘Case Management in an Aboriginal Context’ program for their Home and Community Care and Child Care programs. An opportunity was extended to seven other First Nations to participate in the initiative; six seats were purchased by Tyendinaga, Shoal Lake, Nippissing and Beausoleil First Nations. A total of twenty-three people were registrared for the training initiative which was delivered during the week of April 7 – 11, 2003.
Accreditation was awarded based on three main criteria:
Twenty-two people completed the accreditation requirements and were awarded their certificates from the First Nations Technical Institute and TAP Resources. At present the success rate, as defined by completion of the program, is nine-six percent (96%). A total of seventeen of the possible twenty-three evaluations were handed in representing a seventy-four percent (74%) response rate.
In accordance with participants closing comments and as further substantiated by the evaluation responses, participants found the training to be relevant and beneficial. The program core outline facilitated a wholistic approach in case management, meaning that learning and new awareness was developed from a spiritual, emotional, physical and mental level with the understanding that a wholistic approach includes all our relations in our environment.
Participants acknowledged with concrete examples of how their knowledge and skill levels increased and could apply this new knowledge/understanding either within their personal lives or work environment. This level of application was particularly evident in the written comment section of the evaluation and the program assignment. Participant responses were particularly meaningful in their acknowledgement of developing either a new understanding or refreshed awareness of the importance of caring for oneself and understanding how our individual biases and the impact these can have on our ability to provide a high quality service to clients and our community.
Eighty-eight percent of the conference participants described the trainers as well prepared, knowledgeable and engaging in their presentations thereby facilitating the high level of learning and appreciation of the program. |
